Parliament, Tuesday, 12 November 2024 – A joint meeting of the Portfolio Committees on Higher and Basic Education will consider a petition from the I Menstruate Movement and Team Free Sanitary Pads. The petition is calling for the South African government to legislate the provision of menstrual health and hygiene management for young girls and women by making sanitary pads more accessible. The meeting will also consider policy frameworks to address gender-based violence in the post-school education sector.
