Parliament, Monday, 7 October 2024 – The Portfolio Committee on Transport will from tomorrow conduct oversight visits to several entities that fall under the Department of Transport.
The oversight will include walkabouts in the premises of these entities as well as scrutinising their annual reports and performance plans.
Tomorrow (Monday, 7 October) the committee will spend the whole day at the OR Tambo International Airport engaging with the Airports Company South Africa, the Air Traffic and Navigation Services and the South African Civil Aviation Authority.
On Wednesday (9 October) the committee will visit the Driving Licence Card Account facilities in Pretoria, the Road Accident Fund offices in Centurion and the Cross- Border Road Transport Agency, also situated in Centurion.
The committee will on Thursday (10 October) travel to Midrand where it will receive briefings from the Road Traffic Infringement Agency, the Road Traffic Management Corporation and the South African National Roads Agency Limited on their annual performance plans and annual reports. These briefings will take place separately in the entities’ respective offices.
On Friday (11 October) the committee will embark on a walkabout at Park Station in Johannesburg before visiting Gibela Train Manufacturing Plant in Dunnotar where it will also receive briefings from PRASA and the Railway Safety Regulator on their performance plans and annual reports.
The committee will conclude its oversight visit programme on Saturday (12 October) in Cape Town where it will scrutinise the performance plans and annual reports of the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) and the Ports Regulator of South Africa.
