Parliament, Monday, 8 September 2025, The Select Committee on Social Services will tomorrow conduct an oversight visit in the Eastern Cape. The visit aims to assess the allegations of improper conduct and maladministration at the Dora Nginza Regional Hospital, as reported by the Office of Public Protector.

The Public Protector investigated the hospital following media reports about the hospital on 5 May 2023 wherein it was reported that “Pregnant Women Sleep On Chairs at Dora Nginza Hospital.”

The Public Protector investigated whether Easten Cape Department of Health healthcare employees were providing basic healthcare services at the hospital in accordance with the obligations imposed by the Constitution and the law.
