Parliament, Thursday, 9 December 2021 – The Portfolio Committee on Social Development will tomorrow, Friday 10 December 2021, hold public hearings on the Children’s Amendment Bill [B18 -2020] in George. The hearings are part of a nationwide process to get views of the public at large about the Bill.

The Bill seeks to, among other things, strengthen the protective measures for children and to close gaps in the child protection system. Furthermore, it is intended to improve foster care services to children; to resolve parental responsibilities on unmarried fathers, and also services to children born to foreign parents and unaccompanied migrant children.
