Parliament, Saturday, 22 May 2021 – The Portfolio Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure will tomorrow conduct public hearings on the Expropriation Bill in eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, in the province of `KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
Traditional leaders, civic organisations, political parties, religious organisations and individuals will be afforded an opportunity to express their opinions on the Bill. The committee has been in the KZN to conduct public hearings in the province on the Bill since Thursday.
The Bill seeks, among other things, to provide for the expropriation of property for public purposes or in the public interest and provide for certain instances where expropriation without compensation may be appropriate.
