Parliament, Tuesday, 11 August 2026 – The Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation will tomorrow mark 32 years of diplomatic relations between South Africa and Cuba, a relationship founded on solidarity, friendship, and mutual cooperation. The occasion is also significant as Cuba commemorates the centenary of the birth of former President Fidel Castro, while approaching the 10th anniversary of his passing.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for portfolio committee members, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, the Ambassador of Cuba and invited stakeholders to reflect on the history and relevance of South Africa–Cuba relations and to reaffirm the bonds of solidarity between the peoples of the two countries.
