Parliament, Monday, 10 August 2026 — The Portfolio Committee on Agriculture will tomorrow, Tuesday, 11 August 2026, receive a briefing from the Department of Agriculture on its performance and expenditure for the third and fourth quarters of the 2025/26 financial year, as well as progress in implementing its Audit Improvement Plan.
The committee will assess the department’s progress towards key targets in its 2025/26 annual performance plan. These include supporting 100 producers through the Blended Finance Scheme, improving the payment of valid invoices within 30 days, expanding the digitalisation of departmental systems, advancing food and nutrition security initiatives, and strengthening agricultural biosecurity and disease surveillance.
Members of the committee will also assess progress towards targets for agricultural research, regulatory development and support for smallholder producers in accessing agricultural markets.
The engagement will enable the committee to assess whether the department is making sufficient progress towards its targets and using public resources effectively to advance agricultural development, food security and support for farmers and producers.
The committee will also receive an update on the implementation of the Audit Improvement Plan and scrutinise measures to strengthen governance, financial management and internal controls.
