Parliament, Monday, 16 September 2024 – The Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) will tomorrow receive a briefing from Parliament’s legal services on the judgment of the Constitutional Court in the matter of Mogale and Others v Speaker of the National Assembly and Others (Mogale case) that was delivered on 30 May 2023, and its impact on the Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership Act of 2019.

Parliament’s legal services will also brief the committee about the consequent withdrawal of the Traditional Affairs General Amendment Bill of 2022 (the Traditional Affairs General Amendment Bill).
