Parliament, Monday, 18 May 2026 – The Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) will receive a briefing from the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Commission) tomorrow on the Section 22 Committee that was established.
The briefing follows meetings of the committee with the religious community amid concerns regarding the constitutionality and inclusivity of the processes followed to establish the Section 22 Committee, as well as perceived overreach into religious affairs.
