Parliament, Tuesday, 25 March 2025 – The Portfolio Committee on Basic Education will tomorrow continue with its oversight visit to schools in Gauteng.

Committee Chairperson Ms Joy Maimela said the primary focus of the visits is to assess the state of readiness of schools in these provinces for the 2025 academic year. She said the focus areas are learner admissions and teacher/learner ratios, early childhood development, National Senior Certificate 2024 results and improvement plans for 2025 and implementation of curriculum, including coding and robotics, mathematics, science and technology.

The programme for tomorrow, Wednesday, 26 March, is as follows: 
08:30 – 10:00 Curtis Nkondo School of Specialisation (Johannesburg Central District, Soweto)
10:30 – 12:00 Graceland Education Centre (Germiston)
13:00 – 17:00 Visit to Schools in Greater Johannesburg Education District
13:30 – 15:00 David Makubo Secondary School (Johannesburg East District)
15:30 – 17:00 Kaalfontein Secondary School (Johannesburg East) or Oracle Secondary School
