Parliament, Wednesday, 26 March 2025 – The Portfolio Committee on Basic Education will tomorrow visit schools in Ekurhuleni as part of its week-long oversight visit to the Gauteng Province.
Committee Chairperson, Ms Joy Maimela, said the primary focus of the visit is to assess the state of readiness of schools for the 2025 academic year. The focus areas are learner admissions and teacher/learner ratios, early childhood development, National Senior Certificate 2024 results and improvement plans for 2025 and the implementation of curriculum, including coding and robotics, mathematics, science and technology.

10:30 – 12:00 Winnie Madikizela Secondary School
12:30 – 14:00 Tembisa Child Welfare ECD
14:30 – 16:00 Ikusasa Comprehensive School
