Parliament, Monday, 17 August 2026 – The Portfolio Committee on Agriculture will tomorrow, Tuesday, 18 August 2026, scrutinise the performance and expenditure of two key agricultural institutions, the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) and Onderstepoort Biological Products (OBP).
The committee will receive briefings from the ARC and OBP on their 2025/26 third and fourth quarter performance and expenditure, providing committee members with an opportunity to assess progress against planned targets and the utilisation of public resources during the financial year.
The committee will also consider progress in implementing the institutions’ audit improvement plans, with members expected to seek clarity on measures being taken to address audit findings, strengthen financial management and improve institutional performance.
The ARC plays a key role in agricultural research, scientific innovation and technology development, while OBP is central to the development and production of vaccines and other biological products used in animal health. The committee’s engagement will therefore provide an opportunity to assess whether these institutions are adequately positioned to support the sector and respond to emerging challenges.
