Parliament, Monday, 16 March 2026 – South Africa is currently battling a severe foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) outbreak, with cases reported in all nine provinces. The outbreak has significant economic implications, threatening jobs and food security. Therefore, the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture will this week conduct oversight in the Free State, which has been identified as the epicentre of the disease.
