Parliament, Wednesday, 13 May 2026 – President Cyril Ramaphosa is scheduled to answer Questions for Oral Reply before the National Assembly (NA) tomorrow, Thursday, 14 May, at 14:00.

In accordance with section 92 of the Constitution, Cabinet members are accountable to Parliament for performing their functions and exercising their powers. It is compulsory that they provide Parliament with regular reports on matters under their control.

The President will provide oral answers to six questions on issues related to national, continental and global matters affecting the Republic of South Africa, such as: the envisaged growth in employment with regards to the anticipated investments for the medium- to long term; whether the government intends to use the SA National Defence Force and/or the Public Service to expand skills development and job placement as a response to youth unemployment; whether the President has found the roll-out of Operation Prosper having succeeded in meeting its objectives and his position on introducing innovative measures to address student debt, etc.

The President’s question-and-answer session will be preceded by the NA Programming Committee meeting at 08:30 am, to consider the draft parliamentary programme that include committee reports, and Bills before the House.

Also tomorrow, at 17:30 pm, the NCOP will hold a hybrid plenary in the North West province to consider the Special Appropriation Bill. This Bill was passed by the NA on 21 April 2026. It provides an additional R13.5 billion for the 2025/26 financial year to address urgent and unforeseen spending needs, allowing government to respond quickly to pressing national priorities without waiting for the next budget cycle.
