Parliament, Tuesday 18 June 2019 – Media are invited to join Parliament’s Presiding Officers when they do a walkabout at Parliament tomorrow to assess preparations for Thursday’s State of the Nation Address.

The Presiding Officers, led by National Assembly Speaker Ms Thandi Modise and National Council of Provinces Chairperson Mr Amos Masondo, will start their walkabout from the steps of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) building and proceed along Parliament Street to the steps of the National Assembly (NA) building.

This is the red-carpet route along which processions of Provincial Premiers, Provincial Speakers and the Judiciary will walk to the National Assembly chamber on Thursday. Former Presidents of the Republic of South Africa and former Presiding Officers of Parliament also alight at the red carpet in front of the National Assembly building.

The Presiding Officers will have a door-stop media engagement at the steps of the NA and provide updates on guests invited and confirmed as well as on plans to deal with bad weather.
