Parliament, Tuesday, 9 September 2025 – The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will pay tribute to former Deputy President David Mabuza during its hybrid plenary tomorrow at 14:00, while the National Assembly (NA) will hold an oral question-and-answer session with Ministers in the Economics Cluster (5) during its plenary tomorrow at 15:00.

During its plenary session, the NCOP will also consider condolences on the passing of Ms Zama Ngcobo. In addition, the House will hold a debate on Heritage Month, consider legislation (bills before the House), and committee reports.

DETAILS OF THE NCOP HYBRID PLENARY:

At its plenary starting at 15:00, the National Assembly (NA) will hold an oral question-and-answer session with ministers in the Economics Cluster (5). The Economics Cluster (5) comprises ministers responsible for the following departments: Land Reform and Rural Development; Public Works and Infrastructure; Science, Technology, and Innovation; Small Business Development; Tourism; Trade, Industry, and Competition; and Transport.

During the same session, the NA will also receive a Ministerial Briefing Statement from the Minister of Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities about the call to warn women against unsolicited foreign job offers.

Parliament uses a range of instruments to hold the executive accountable. Section 92(2) of the Constitution stipulates that Cabinet Members are accountable collectively and individually to Parliament for exercising their powers and performing their functions.
