Parliament, Monday, 31 October 2022 – The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will convene a Ministerial Briefing session tomorrow, Tuesday, 01 November, under the theme “Progress in the resourcing of the police service and Police stations to wage a concerted battle against crime and criminality”. The hybrid plenary sitting will start at 10 am.

Members of the Executive Council (MEC’s) responsible for policing from all the nine (9) provinces, are expected to brief the NCOP and the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) representatives on the provincial and municipal resourcing of the police service and police stations in order ‘to wage a concerted battle against crime and criminality’.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly (NA), also in a hybrid plenary sitting at 2 pm, will deal with Members’ statements, legislation and consider numerous committee reports, such as:

  1. Recommendation of candidates for filling of vacancies in the Commission for Gender Equality (CGE).
  2. Report of the Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans on Oversight visit to selected Armscor facilities, Denel’s Lyttelton Campus, Special Forces School and Department of Military Veterans’ Headquarters.
  3. Report of Standing Committee on Finance on Oversight visit to South African Special Risk Insurance Association (SASRIA), etc.
