Parliament, Monday, 28 March 2022 – Permanent delegates to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) from KwaZulu-Natal will tomorrow undertake an oversight visit to the province. The visits form part of the NCOP’s Provincial Week programme, where Members of Parliament undertake a week-long (29 March to 1 April 2022) visit to their respective provinces to conduct oversight.
KwaZulu-Natal’s focus for this year is to assess the capacity of the South African Police Service (SAPS) to fight crime, including the state of police stations in townships and rural areas, and their resourcing.
Provincial Week 2022 is a high-impact oversight programme aimed at responding to the challenges of state capacity in the provinces.
