Parliament, Monday 21 July 2025 – Tomorrow, Tuesday, 22 July at 10:00, the National Assembly (NA) will consider two motions during its plenary sitting: a motion to revive the investigation into the issue of statutory rape, and a motion on the replacement of representatives to the Board of Trustees of the Political Office Bearers Pension Fund. Later tomorrow at 14:00, the NA will deliberate on three bills: the Eskom Debt Relief Amendment Bill, the Revenue Laws Amendment Bill, and the National Gambling Amendment Bill.

The NA plenary will also consider the following Committee Reports:

  • Report of Standing Committee on Auditor-General on Draft 2025-2028 Strategic Plan and Budget of Auditor General of South Africa, and 2025 audit directives.
  • Report of Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration on Update relating to Petition of Memorandum by former civil servants on unpaid pensions and related benefits.
  • Report of Portfolio Committee on Police on Petition related to gang violence in northern areas of Nelson Mandela Bay
  • Report of Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests on Contravention of Code of Ethical Conduct and Disclosure of Members’ Interests: Honourable Fadiel Adams, MP

Meanwhile, the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will hold two policy debates – on Budget Vote 18 (Health) and Budget Vote 38 (Tourism).

Budget vote debates enable Parliament and stakeholders to formally discuss and provide input on departmental plans and budget allocations.

Meaningful public participation and parliamentary oversight over budget processes increase social ownership of the budget and enhance the effective allocation of funds while reducing wasteful prioritisation.
