Parliament, Tuesday, 5 December 2023 – The National Assembly (NA) and the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), have convened separate hybrid plenaries for tomorrow when they will process several bills and consider various reports, including the Budgetary Review and Recommendation Reports (BRRR).

During its last plenary for the calendar year, the National Assembly will consider four bills, including the Eskom Debt Relief Amendment Bill, the Public Procurement Bill, the Adjustments Appropriation Bill, and the National Small Enterprise Amendment Bill.

In addition, the House will also hold a debate on the 2023 Medium-term Budget Policy Statement and consider the report of the Joint Rules Committee on the proposed amendments to Chapters 1-2A of the Joint Rules. The House will conclude its business of the day with farewell speeches from Members.

Meanwhile, during its hybrid plenary at 14:00, the NCOP will consider three Bills, including the Judicial Matters Amendment Bill and the Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related Information Amendment Bill. The Council will also hold a debate when it considers the National Health Insurance Bill.

The Council will conclude its business for the day with motions from members and consider committee reports including the Report of the Ad Hoc Joint Committee on Flood Disaster Relief and Recovery.
