Media Advisory: Key Media Arrangements for the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference

Parliament, Saturday, 12 September 2026 – The Parliament of the Republic of South Africa and the South Africa Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association will host the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 13 to 19 September 2026.

The conference will bring together parliamentarians and parliamentary officials from across the Commonwealth to discuss key issues affecting parliaments and the citizens they represent.

Programme highlights and arrangements for media access

Media are advised to note the following key programme events that are open to the media:

Monday, 14 September: The programme includes the CPA Small Branches Conference, Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) Conference and the Official Opening Ceremony of the 69th CPC, which will take place from 17:30 to 20:00 at the CTICC.
Tuesday, 15 September: Events include the Commonwealth Parliamentarians with Disabilities (CPwD) Town Hall and outreach events; CWP and Small Branches Conference sessions; CPC workshops on inclusive and fair trade and accessible parliaments; and the Emilia Lifaka Memorial Lecture.
Wednesday, 16 September: The programme includes CPC workshops on climate adaptation and resilience, artificial intelligence in parliaments and the role of parliaments in protecting human rights and promoting peace, as well as CPA Regional Meetings and selected side events.
Thursday, 17 September: Events include the Official Closing Dinner and Parliamentarians Awards Ceremony.

Closed and restricted sessions

Unless Parliament communicates otherwise, media may not attend closed committee or group meetings, sessions restricted to designated delegates, or invitation-only events.

These include CPA Executive Committee meetings, CWP Business Meetings, Society of Clerks-at-the-Table (SoCATT) meetings, the Youth Roundtable, the CPA General Assembly and specified invitation-only functions.
