Parliament, Thursday 23 May 2019 - The President of the Republic of South Africa Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, will deliver his State of the Nation Address to a Joint Sitting of the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces. The State of the Nation Address is provisionally scheduled to take place in Parliament on Thursday, 20 June 2019

This will be the first State of the Nation Address of the 6th term of Parliament following the national and provincial elections. The June State of the Nation Address will be delivered at 7 pm, as it has been the case in recent years.

Media wishing to cover the State of the Nation Address from Parliament should apply for accreditation by no later than Wednesday, 5 June 2019 at 2 pm using the link provided here below:

PLEASE NOTE:

  • No accreditation requests will be accepted after 5 June 2019
  • Members of the media are advised to apply as early as possible to ensure a smooth accreditation process.
  • Technical crew and media analyst who are hired to provide services during the State of the Nation Address are required to supply details of the media organisation they will be working for/with during SONA.
  • Freelance members of the media are required to supply details of the media organisations they freelance for and not only state freelance journalist on the application.
  • Members of the media are required to provide all the required details on the online application form to ensure smooth processing of their application.
  • Please provide the correct ID or Passport number, as applications will be declined due to incorrect information.
  • No applications will be accepted via emails or telephonically.

REQUIRED DETAILS FOR LIVE BROADCAST:
Media wishing to broadcast from the Parliamentary precinct are required to send the following requirements directly (via email) to the officials mentioned below. The required details are:

  • Make of vehicle(s)
  • Registration number(s)
  • Clearance certificates from service providers for temporary structures (tents, etc) they wish to erect
  • Other equipment
  • Time of arrival
  • Time of departure
