Parliament, Tuesday 5 January 2016 - President Jacob Zuma will convene the Joint Sitting of Parliament for the purpose of delivering the State of the Nation Address on Thursday, 11 February 2016.

The Address will be delivered in the evening, at 19.00 (7pm).

All media wishing to cover the State of the Nation Address from the Parliamentary precinct must apply for accreditation by no later than Tuesday, 12 January 2016. Applications sent after this deadline will not be considered. Media who do not have Parliamentary media access permits must also indicate whether they wish to attend the debate on the State of the Nation Address (16 and 17 February) and the President's reply to the debate (18 February).

Details required in the accreditation application are:

  • Full name as it appears on ID or passport
  • ID/passport number (members of the media providing passport numbers must supply extra information as set out on the attached accreditation form)
  • Media organisation and media group
  • Designation (writer, photographer, for example)
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Mobile phone number

Media wishing to broadcast from the Parliamentary precinct should also provide:

  • Make of vehicle(s)
  • Registration number(s)
  • Clearance certificates from service providers for temporary structures and a list of other equipment
  • Time of arrival and departure
