Parliament, Tuesday, 28 October 2025 – The Minister of Finance, Mr Enoch Godongwana, will deliver the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) to a hybrid plenary of the National Assembly (NA) on Wednesday, 12 November, at 14h00 at the Good Hope Chamber.
The MTBPS plays a vital role in the overall national budget process, as it establishes the government’s economic policy framework, updates economic forecasts, adjusts departmental budgets and authorises emergency spending.
It also enables Parliament and the public to scrutinise the government’s finances through committee oversight over government departments. Parliamentary committees review effective and efficient departmental spending through the Budget Review and Recommendations Reports, which must be tabled in the National Assembly before the MTBPS reports are adopted.
During the same sitting, the Minister will table the Adjustments Appropriation Bill, the Rates and Monetary Amounts and Amendment of Revenue Laws Bill, the Taxation Laws Amendment Bill, the Division of Revenue Amendment Bill and the Tax Administration Laws Amendment Bill.
