Parliament, Wednesday, 22 April 2020 – A joint meeting of the Portfolio Committee on Social Development and the Select Committee on Health and Social Services will tomorrow be briefed by the Department of Social Development on its performance in responding to challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The committee will also be briefed on the work of the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa). The briefing is expected to highlight the programmes that have been put in place, as well as the successes and challenges experienced in their implementation. These programmes include food security programmes, gender-based violence programmes and services for homeless people.
