Parliament, Monday, 27 April 2020 – The Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs and the Select Committee on Security and Justice will tomorrow hold a virtual meeting with the Department of Home Affairs to consider various issues concerning the department’s services, especially during the State of the National Disaster declared by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Some of the issues the committee will get a briefing on include the procurement of the Beitbridge borderline fence, closure of the ports of entry during the Covid-19 period and a briefing on the areas of services to be rendered during the Covid-19 period.

The joint committee will also get an update on the removal and movement of refugees from the Cape Town Central Business District since a decision to reintegrate them into communities was taken.
