Parliament, Thursday, 14 November 2019 – The Portfolio Committee on Health will, from Friday, 15 November, to Monday, 18 November, hold a series of public hearings on the National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill in Vhembe, Mopani, Sekhukhune and Capricon districts.

The NHI is the financing system that will ensure all South African citizens and legal long-term residents are provided with essential healthcare, regardless of their employment status and ability to make a direct monetary contribution to the NHI Fund.

Members of the public and interested organisations are invited to make oral submissions at the public hearings.

The committee has already held public hearings in Mpumalanga and Northern Cape. After the public hearings in Limpopo, the committee will continue to KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape, before Parliament rises at the end of the year.
