Parliament, Saturday 26 March 2022 – The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Health, Dr Kenneth Jacobs, has learnt with shock the tragic and untimely passing of Mr Mxolisi Sokatsha.

Mr Sokatsha passed away on Friday evening in a car accident in the Northern Cape. He was a Member of the National Assembly and served in the Portfolio Committee of Health after the 2019 general elections.

Dr Jacobs said the committee has lost a member that was hard-working, committed and dedicated to his work. “Mr Sokatsha made an invaluable contribution to the committee meetings, his work experience and expertise proved to be instrumental during deliberations,” said Dr Jacobs.

Dr Jacobs said the committee would like to extend its condolences to the family and friends of Mr Sokatsha, “We share the deep loss of the family their loss is also our loss. May his soul rest in peace.”
