
Parliament, Sunday 25 October 2020 – Minister of Finance Mr Tito Mboweni will on Wednesday deliver the Medium Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) to the National Assembly (NA) plenary sitting, at 14.00. He will also table and introduce a Second Division of Revenue Amendment Bill and Tax Administration Laws Amendment Bill at the sitting.
Matters of public importance are also set to feature at plenary sittings on Tuesday and Thursday, at Provincial Week – a flagship programme of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) – and at committee meetings.
On Tuesday, the NA plenary sitting is scheduled to consider the Report of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Appointment of Auditor-General of South Africa. The committee, in its report, unanimously recommended that current Deputy Auditor General Ms Tsakani Maluleke be appointed as the new Auditor General, when the non-renewable term of office of current Auditor General Mr Kimi Makwetu ends. The NA sitting on Tuesday is also scheduled to debate an urgent matter of national public importance: Corruption related to COVID-19 tenders.

Thursday’s NA sitting is scheduled to feature an oral question and answer session with Governance Cluster Cabinet Ministers. The NCOP’s Provincial Week programme takes place in all nine provinces, with 27 municipalities with a track record of repeated poor audit reports.
