Parliament, Sunday, 16 August 2026 – Among the highlights on this week’s parliamentary programme are the National Council of Provinces’ (NCOP) Provincial Week, an oral question-and-answer session with members of the executive, National Assembly plenary and mini-plenary sittings and committee meetings.
Permanent delegates to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will return to their respective provinces from 18 to 21 August 2026 for a report-back phase of the NCOP’s oversight cycle.
Building on the Provincial Week oversight visits conducted in 2024 and 2025, delegates will assess progress made by national, provincial and local government in implementing recommendations previously adopted by the NCOP. The programme will include site inspections, engagements with provincial executives, municipalities and other stakeholders and direct interaction with communities to verify progress and identify outstanding service-delivery challenges.
The programme will take place under the themes, “Confronting the Challenges Facing the Timely Delivery of Viable Public Infrastructure to Communities” and “Building Viable Municipalities for Enhanced Delivery of Basic Services to Communities”.
The 2024 and 2025 Provincial Week reports and the detailed programmes of each provincial delegation are available at: https://www.parliament.gov.za/project-event-details/4500.
