Parliament, Sunday 18 August 2019 – President Cyril Ramaphosa is scheduled back in the National Assembly (NA) on Thursday to reply to oral questions from Members of the House while the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will hold a two-day planning workshop this week.

Following a few weeks of constituency work, Members are returning to Parliament this week to continue scrutinising the actions of the Executive and hold them accountable through regular oral questions and answer sessions.

Two plenaries are scheduled for this week, with the NA hosting the President’s oral replies to questions while the NCOP is provisionally scheduled, amongst other, to consider the report of the Select Committee on Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Water and Sanitation and Human Settlement on Notice of Intervention issued in terms of section 139(1)(b) and (5) of the Constitution, 1996 to Amahlathi Local Municipality in the Eastern Cape.

There are 31 committee meetings scheduled for the week – with a few of them getting induction briefings and capacity building workshops from various stakeholders. The committees programme this week includes:
