Parliament, Tuesday, 5 May 2026 – The chairpersons of the National Assembly (NA) and National Council of Provinces (NCOP) governance cluster oversight committees will, on Thursday 7 May 2026, address the media and stakeholders as part of the 7th Parliament’s Committee Cluster Media Engagement programme.
The briefing will be held under the theme: Promoting values of accountability, transparency and fairness.
The governance cluster media briefing is set to feature the four committee chairpersons, listed below.
1. The Chairperson of the Executive Undertakings and Petitions Committee, Ms Dianne Kohler-Barnard, will outline the National Assembly committee’s role in relation to the committee’s mandate and new programme.
2. The Chairperson of the Select Committee on Agriculture, Land Reform and Mineral Resources, Mr Mpho Modise, will outline the committee’s programme relating to foot-and-mouth disease, mining issues, small-scale fisheries and land claims.
3. The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Electricity and Energy, Ms Zama Khanyase, will speak about the committee’s legislative programme, the implementation of the Electricity Regulation Act, Eskom oversight and electricity pricing.
4. The Chairperson of the Select Committee of Petitions and Executive Undertakings, Mr Ofentse Mokae, will cover the committee’s observations from the oversight week, including mining regulatory compliance and community grievances, accountability and oversight, and continuous monitoring and evaluation
