Parliament, Thursday, 26 February 2026 – Following the tabling of the National Budget by the Minister of Finance, the Parliament’s Finance Cluster Committee Chairpersons will on Monday, 2 March 2026, hold a media briefing to address the media.
The media briefing will feature the four Finance Cluster Committee Chairpersons listed below:
The Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Finance, Dr Mkhacani Maswanganyi, will outline the committee’s role in the budget process, including:
- The procedure to process budget at committee level
- Leveraging infrastructure investment to boost economic growth and job creation.
The Chairperson of the Select Committee on Finance, Ms Sanny Ndhlovu, will focus on the public involvement in budgetary legislation, such as:
- Budget process and public participation in the NCOP
- Allocation of budget to local government.
Dr Mmusi Maimane, the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Appropriations, will brief the media on the appropriation matters, in particular:
- The expenditure on crime
- The debt management.
The Standing Committee on Public Accounts, Mr Songezo Zibi, will talk about role of the committee on fiscal expenditure, including:
- The municipal financial management
- The infrastructure spending
- The cost reductions.
