Parliament, Wednesday, 23 August 2017 – The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Communications, Mr Humphrey Maxegwana, hereby confirms receipt of the report from Speaker of the National Assembly on people who may have misled Parliament in their testimony during the inquiry of South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Board’s fitness to hold office.

Mr Maxegwana said the report will be tabled before the Committee for deliberations and to determine a way forward. Until then, the Chairperson is unable to communicate further on what steps will be taken in relation to the report.

“Although we view the report in a serious light, the Committee is currently seized with other pressing matters, such as filling positions at the SABC board and the ICASA Council. Considering the levels of public interest on the matter, we will find time in the Committee schedule to prioritise deliberations on the report,” said Mr Maxegwana.
