Parliament, Tuesday, 10 December 2024 – The Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies will tomorrow, 11 December 2024, conduct an intervention oversight visit to the State Information Technology Agency's (SITA) Centurion facilities in Centurion, Pretoria, due to ongoing governance challenges at the Agency.
During the visit, the committee will focus on SITA’s instability in its governance and executive management structures, staff turnover at the executive level, service delivery issues as raised by several government departments and worrisome supply chain management which might have exacerbated the perceived fraud and corruption in allocating tenders.
The committee is concerned by SITA network challenges which have resulted in outages and several cybersecurity breaches negatively affecting functioning of government departments and entities.
Furthermore, the Auditor-General of South Africa’s latest audit findings have highlighted regression on the Agency’s performance, while investigations conducted by the Public Protector at the Agency will also be interrogated.
Members of the media interested in attending the oversight visit are requested to RSVP by no later than the end of business today.
