Parliament, Wednesday, 31 May 2017 – The Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises welcomes the decision by Public Enterprises Minister, Ms Lynne Brown, to rescind the reappointment of Mr Brian Molefe as chief executive.
Acting Chairperson of the Committee, Ms Zukiswa Rantho, said: “The Committee welcomes the decision by the Inter-Ministerial Committee to withdraw the reappointment of Mr Molefe.
“In our last engagement with Eskom and the Minister, the Committee had resolved that it would investigate the reappointment of Mr Molefe. The latest development indicates that the Minister is exercising her oversight duties on the power utility as she has the power under the 2016 Memorandum of Incorporation to appoint and dismiss the chief executive of Eskom.”
