Parliament, Monday, 6 April 2019 – The Portfolio Committee on Sports, Arts and Culture has welcomed the news that Ms Cecilia Molelekwa has made full recovery from testing positive for the COVID-19.

Ms Molelekwa, President of Netball SA, made full recovery and tested negative, it was reported on Monday. She had been in isolation for the past two weeks after she tested positive for Corona virus, following her return from the United Kingdom.

The Chairperson of the committee, Ms Beauty Dlulane said this was evidence that the government is in control and that the interventions are working.

“We are excited for Netball SA and the sporting fraternity for Ms Molelekwa’s recovery. Self-isolation, quarantine and social distancing are proving to be effective controls for COVID-19.”

Ms Dlulane called on athletes and artists to act as COVID-19 ambassadors, and enhance government messaging around the virus. South Africa has been on lockdown for the past 10 days and will continue until 17 April.
