Parliament, Thursday, 30 November 2018 – The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Police, Mr Francois Beukman, will tomorrow visit the Strand and Macassar police stations in the Western Cape.
The visit to Macassar police station follows the unannounced visit the Chairperson made in August 2018, after the local community complained about service-related matters. Feedback will be received from the provincial South African Police Service (Saps) management on the remedial steps undertaken to address community concerns.
The visit to Strand police station will focus on recent shooting incidents in the Broadlands and Rusthof areas, as well as recent attacks on cyclists in the area.
The visit to the Strand station will commence at 09:00 and the visit to Macassar at 11:00.
