Parliament, Friday, 1 November 2019 – The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Communications, Mr Boyce Maneli, on behalf of the committee, has extended heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Mr Xolani Gwala, whose impeccable career in the media industry informed, educated and entertained many South Africans over decades.

Mr Maneli learned with shock of the passing of this veteran broadcaster and radio presenter, who battled with cancer for a long time. Mr Gwala has left an indelible mark in the media space and will be remembered for his captivating personality on radio airwaves and television screens.

“Although we are devastated by his untimely passing, we derive solace in the knowledge that, like a true soldier, Mr Gwala died with his boots on. To him, broadcasting was a calling and he continued with his passion at Radio 702, despite ill health,” said Mr Maneli.

Mr Maneli extends further condolences to the management and staff of Radio 702, as well as the Primedia family.
