Parliament, Monday 01 February 2016 - Following today's workshop with the media on the Joint Rules adopted in November 2015, several questions were asked in relation to the process of their adoption by the National Assembly (NA) and National Council of Provinces (NCOP).
In 2015, the two Houses amended aspects of the Joint Rules. These Rules, which deal exclusively with joint business, were adopted on 26 November by both Houses.
On the other hand, a comprehensive set of the Rules of the NA that were amended towards the end of last year, will be adopted after the State of the Nation Address. These Rules deal exclusively with the business of the NA. Once adopted, a new NA Rules book will be published.
