Joined the ANC during the brutality of apartheid regime that made me leave the country at an early age after my family was evicted
Joined the ANC youth movement and student movement to advance the cause of equal education and the transformation of the education sector as a whole.
Participated in the ANC structures in KZN, Mpumalanga and Gauteng as part of the effort of building a strong, united ANC in advancing our national democratic revolution to build a truly united non-racial, non-sexist, democratic and prosperous society.
Participated in government as water scientist in the then water affairs and forestry department, later becoming the head of transformation as part of a collective of delivering water to all people whilst taking into account the integrity of our environment
Led local government as HOD in Mpumalanga province as part of strengthening local government in delivering on its mandate
Led State Security as a minister to protect the Constitution and the country's sovereignty.
Led Energy as the minister to ensure energy security whilst taking into account the advances in technology for environmental sustainability.
