JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate will be responsible for the promotion and protection of Parliament’s Brand and reputation through strategic stakeholder engagements, communication, branding and events management support. Also responsible to manage and lead the PR unit in alignment with Parliament’s overall communication strategy and ensuring the consistent application of branding guidelines in all communication, marketing materials and corporate branding items

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

  1. Parliament Brand and Reputation Management
  2. Public Relations Support for Parliamentary Events Management
  3. Manage Parliamentary Public Relations (PR) Nodes (Call Centre, Visitors Centre, etc.)
  4. Stakeholder Relations Management
  5. Operations Management
  6. Financial Management
  7. Human Resources Management
To qualify, you must have:
  • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 plus Honours degree or Post-Graduate Diploma in  Communications / Strategic Marketing / Public Relations or related qualification at NQF level 8
  • 5 years’ relevant specialist experience in Public Relations Management or Strategic Marketing of which 3 years should have been at management or supervisory level.

IN ADDITION, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DEMOSTRATE THE FOLLOWING SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND JOB-RELATED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Knowledge and Technical Skills

  1. Solid knowledge and understanding of the role and functions of Parliament.
  2. Extensive knowledge and understanding of engaging and managing various stakeholders and clients.
  3. Expert knowledge of the development and implementation of communication strategies and methodologies.
  4. Excellent knowledge and application in managing multiple stakeholders.
  5. Proven competencies in the management of a public relations function covering policy, strategy, programme and evaluation.
  6. Exceptional events management skills from conception to activations, evaluation and reporting.
  7. Track record of managing internal and external stakeholders and segmentation.
  8. Excellent knowledge of the development and implementation of branding and marketing strategies and activations.
  9. Extensive knowledge of Call and Visitor Centre Management.
  10. Knowledge of communications protocols, industry standards and best practices, and governance within the public sector environment.
  11. Outstanding oral, presentation and workshop facilitation skills.
  12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  13. Extensive knowledge of the use, management and application of communications platforms and channels, including social media platforms.
  14. Proficient with Microsoft 365 Suite and related software(s).
  15. Project management skills.
  16. Effective analysis and problem-solving skills.
  17. Excellent research and analytical skills.
  18. Understanding of communications laws, copyright and information ethics.
  19. Knowledge of the FMPPLA and labour laws, and HR policies and procedures.
  20. Knowledge of Human Resources and Change Management processes and practices.
  21. Exceptional conflict resolution and people management skills.
