JOB SUMMARY

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, preparation of meals and provision of catering services for Parliament

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Menu planning and costing
  • Ordering and stock control
  • Implement Health and safety regulations and standards
  • Maintain operational equipment
  • Staff Supervision

To qualify, you must have:

  • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 National Diploma in Professional Cookery or Related (NQF Level 6)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in professional cookery with 3 years’ experience as Head Chef or similar position

IN ADDITION, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DEMOSTRATE THE FOLLOWING SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND JOB-RELATED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

  •  Ability to supervise a team
  • Ability to work under sustained pressure
  •  Computer literacy
  • Thorough knowledge of the professional cookery in hospitality environment
  • Willingness to work long extraordinary hours
  •  Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety practices, and nutrition.
  •  Exceptional supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse kitchen team.
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  •  A passion for culinary excellence and a commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences.
  •  Computer Skills (Microsoft Suite)
