Have Your Say: Draft Parliamentary Villages Bill, 2026

The Ad Hoc Committee to Review and Amend the Parliamentary Villages Management Board Act (Act No. 96 of 1998) invites interested stakeholders and persons to submit written comments on the draft Parliamentary Villages Bill, 2026.

Objects of the Bill

The Bill seeks to repeal the Parliamentary Villages Management Board Act, 1998; to recognise and regulate the existence of the parliamentary villages, and the allocation of housing in parliamentary villages; to designate Parliament as the custodian and user of the parliamentary villages; to establish and regulate the Parliamentary Villages Management Board; to provide for the governance of the Board and its role to support Parliament as custodian and user of the parliamentary villages; to provide for the establishment of a Residents Committee at each of the parliamentary villages and to provide for its role and functions; to provide for the role of the South African Police Service at the parliamentary villages; to amend the Government Immovable Asset Management Act, 2007; and to provide for matters connected therewith.
