Have Your Say: Mine Health and Safety Amendment Bill [B10-2026]

In line with Parliament’s core objective of facilitating public participation and involvement in legislative processes, the Portfolio Committee on Mineral and Petroleum Resources invites interested individuals and relevant stakeholders to submit written comments and indicate interest in making an oral submission on the Mine Health and Safety Amendment Bill [B10 – 2026].

The purpose of the Bill is to amend the Mine Health and Safety Act, 1996, in order to streamline administrative processes, remove obsolete provisions, strengthen managerial responsibility and employer accountability, provide for the recomposition of the Council, dissolve the Inspectorate as a juristic person, strengthen enforcement measures and increase penalties, amend and insert certain definitions, and provide for matters connected therewith.

Written submissions must be addressed to the Portfolio Committee on Mineral and Petroleum Resources, attention: Ms Ayanda Boss, PO Box 15, Cape Town, 8000, e-mailed to mhs-pcmpr@parliament.gov.za or faxed to 086 691 4093 and must be received by no later than 16:00 on Friday, 22 August 2026.
