Have Your Say: Portfolio Committee on Electricity and Energy Gas Bill [B6 – 2026]

In line with Parliament’s core objective of facilitating public participation and involvement in legislative processes, the Portfolio Committee on Electricity and Energy invites interested individuals and relevant stakeholders to submit written comments and indicate interest in making an oral submission on the Gas Bill [B6 – 2026].

The Gas Bill seeks to repeal the Gas Act, 2001; to provide for the promotion of the orderly development of the gas industry; to enhance the national regulatory framework; to promote broad-based black economic empowerment; to provide for socioeconomic and environmentally sustainable development; to provide for new developments and changing technologies in the gas sector; to facilitate gas infrastructure development and investment; to provide for cooperation between the private and public sectors; to strengthen enforcement and improve compliance; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

Written submissions must be directed to Mr Arico Kotze and be addressed to the Portfolio Committee on Electricity and Energy, 3rd floor, 90 Plein Street, Cape Town 8000, e-mailed to gas-pcee@parliament.gov.za by no later than 16:30 on Friday, 07 August 2026. In addition to the written comments, please indicate your interest in making a verbal presentation.
