Have Your Say: Portfolio Committee on Mineral and Petroleum Resources South African National Petroleum Company Bill [B2-2026]
In line with Parliament’s core objective of facilitating public participation and involvement in legislative processes, the Portfolio Committee on Mineral and Petroleum Resources invites interested individuals and relevant stakeholders to submit written comments and indicate interest in making an oral submission on the South African National Petroleum Company Bill [B2 – 2026]
The purpose of the Bill is to provide for the establishment of the South African National Petroleum Company (SANPC); to define its objects and functions; and to regulate its governance, including the appointment and composition of its Board and executive management. The Bill further provides for the consolidation and transfer of assets to the Company; sets out provisions relating to its financial management; and outlines the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and other staff. In addition, it makes provision for transitional arrangements for the transfer of human resources and assets from the South African Gas Development Company (iGas), the Strategic Fuel Fund (SFF), and the Petroleum Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa (PetroSA) to the SANPC, as well as matters incidental thereto.
