Have Your Say: National Minimum Wage Bill [B 31a–2017]

In line with Parliament’s core objective of facilitating public participation and involvement in legislative processes, the Select Committee on Economic and Business Development invites interested stakeholders to submit their written

submissions on the Labour Laws Amendment Bill [B 29–2017], Basic Conditions of Employment Amendment Bill [B30A–2017], National Minimum Wage Bill [B 31A–2017] and Labour Relations Amendment Bill [B 32A–2017].

The National Minimum Wage Bill [B 31A–2017] seeks to provide for a national minimum wage; to establish the National Minimum Wage Commission; to provide for the composition and functions of the National Minimum Wage Commission; to provide for the review and annual adjustment of the national minimum wage; to provide for exemption from paying the national minimum wage; to provide for transitional provisions in respect of farm workers and domestic workers; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

Interested individuals and interest groups wishing to comment on the above-mentioned Bills are kindly requested to forward written submissions to the Select Committee on Economic and Business Development by not later than Friday, 8 June 2018. Stakeholders interested in making oral submissions are also requested to make a written request or contact our office by not later than Friday, 8 June 2018.
