Have Your Say: Divorce Amendment Bill [B22-2023]
Call for Written Submissions
The Select Committee on Security and Justice invites stakeholders and interested persons to submit written submissions on the Divorce Amendment Bill [B 22-2023].
The Divorce Amendment Bill [B 22-2023] seeks;
- to amend the Divorce Act, 1979, so as to insert a definition for a Muslim marriage;
- to provide for the protection and to safeguard the interests of dependent and minor children of a Muslim marriage;
- to provide for the redistribution of assets on the dissolution of a Muslim marriage;
- to provide for the forfeiture of patrimonial benefits of a Muslim marriage;
- and to provide for matters connected therewith.
Written submissions must be received by no later than 13:00 on 5 December 2023.
