Have Your Say: Eskom Debt Relief Bill [B5-2023]
SUBMISSIONS AND PUBLIC HEARINGS
The Standing Committee on Appropriations (National Assembly) invites stakeholders and interested parties to make written and/or oral submissions on the 2023 Eskom Debt Relief Bill. The said Bill was tabled with the 2023/24 national budget by the Minister of Finance on 22 February 2023. The Money Bills Amendment Procedure and Related Matters Amendment Act, Act No 13 of 2018 requires Parliament to conduct public hearings and to report on all Bills.
The 2023 Eskom Debt Relief Bill (the Bill) seeks to provide for a direct charge against the National Revenue Fund for debt relief for Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, and to provide for matters incidental thereto.
Public hearings on the Bill will be conducted via virtual media platforms by the Standing Committee on Appropriations on Wednesday, 26 April 2023. The closing date to make submissions or indicate your intention to make an oral presentation is at 16:00 on Friday, 21 April 2023.
